'AGW realists'? Never heard that one before.
I believe AGW is crap, and I'm still all for alternative energy. If you were to look at a lot of answers by skeptics (skeptics, not deniers. I can always go back to calling you guys 'schizolarmists'), you'd see lots of references to nuclear power.
What we ARE against (or at least, I am) is raising the cost of living so that money can go to building solar panels (we call this 'cap and trade'). The money alarmist solutions go to isn't researching ways to make more efficient panels; it's simply building panels. And as we know, solar panels aren't currently efficient enough to fulfill your everyday needs.
So the solution is nuclear energy. Alarmists have, oddly enough, been against this for years, despite the fact that it'd reduce emissions by about 40%. Fortunately, Obama's legalized building nuclear power plants.
But the fact that alarmists are against nuclear energy reverses your question: Are alarmists increasing the future price of energy by limiting investment in nuclear energy companies?

D/dx -
Seriously, that's a really convoluted argument you're trying to make there. The problem with renewable energy is that it currently is nowhere near as cheap as normal forms of energy when you price in the need for a reliable base-load supply. So, the real problem is one of efficiency, which requires a technological fix.
Command-based attempts to increase the percentage of electricity supplied by renewables almost always run into major problems - see this article from a recent Economist issue about the backlash in Germany against subsidies for solar: http://www.economist.com/businessfinance…
--------------------------------------…
PS -
I LOVE the idea of renewable energy - especially if i can generate it myself. When it gets to the point of being able to power a (normal) home from solar panels on the roof, geothermal heat from the ground and wind turbines and it's reasonably affordable (maybe a 5 year loan to make it cost-neutral or nearly) then i am there.
I also love wind turbines - i think they look awesome. They can put them on one of my fields any day. I'd love the rent from them!
I don't like scaring the public with BS doomsday scenarios that cause real people real worry and anxiety in the name of environmentalism. Let's move on, hey? Technology, not agitprop.

The governent does a bad job of industry picking.
Blocking government forcing of particular alternative energies isn't limiting investment in them, it's simply removing artificial incentives from it.
Ask Boon Pickens about it... he was all over wind while he thought it was going to be subsidized. Now? Not so much. Why? Because it doesn't work without a subsidy.

I would really like to know which imbeciles gave Gary F thumbs up (except Littlerobberbaron who obviously did). It never ceases to astonish me what some people think is informed. For once I agree with Paul in his agreement with Conservative Agenda. Investment is a euphemism for government spending. It isn't actually an investment. I realize this is a difficult concept for most liberals. In the real world, the government takes money from people that could actually invest it and the government then spends that confiscated money wastefully on pet projects that liberals such as yourself like to call investments. They aren't.

Deniers do not accept "future" as a relevant concept except when they use it to attack those they disagree with.
These are the same people that bash Obama for placing debt on future generations but wet themselves cheering Bush's stupid and doomed to fail invasion of Iraq - even though they can't tell what continent it is on. But that is OK because they also do not accept "hypocrisy" as a concept.

Actually, the Warmers have already accomplished that by whining to our Congress to provide welfare/subsidies to the inefficient, resource-wasting alternative energy cause..... who do you think is paying those ridiculous subsidies...... Al Gore??...... NO..... those of us who pay taxes do.... just add those welfare payments to your alternative energy utility bill.
Last I heard was that the U.S. is a capitalistic society...... If wind or solar or gerbil-crap energy can be developed and stand on its own without taxpayer welfare, then go for it. Until then, stay out of my wallet and stop trying to turn us into some wimpy, socialist flock of sheep.

I think you're being a bit contorted. All of us are welcome to invest in companies that we think are going to do well, and Exxon Mobil itself has invested jointly with Craig Venter's SGI in oil from algae. See Science 24 July 2009, Vol. 325. no. 5939, p. 379, DOI: 10.1126/science.325_379a
And for a change, I find myself in agreement with Conservative about the distorting effect of subsidies. That is why I am opposed to the corn ethanol subsidy, and to the oil depletion allowance.

I don't think any denier anywhere, has said that they would not use an alternative source if it were cheaper. AGW surrealists seem to think that by eliminating the cheapest forms of energy, you will reduce the cost of energy. I would say these people should study economics a little more.
On a strictly financial basis, my money goes into a mutual fund and I have no idea where it is invested from there. If I were to find out that I lost $1000 because the biofuels section of Cap & Trade was taken out, I would be estatic. Your entire pretense that our motivation is purely based on financial gain is rather foolhardy, and only understandable if your entire motivation is based on financial gain.

Yes and they're also limiting our ability to have a significant stake in the future green energy economy. China is investing heavily in alternative energy technologies, and if we don't keep up, they'll dominate the field. China poured $440 billion in to clean energy last year.
This is one of the main reason why some American conservatives are bucking their party's anti-science anti-AGW position. For example, Senator Lindsey Graham.
"every day that we delay trying to find a price for carbon is a day that China uses to dominate the green economy.”

Copying and pasting an entire online homework or quiz will probably not generate answers and it will most certainly not help you with the material. Using the textbook, online resources (Google / Yahoo), and attempting the test then posting questions about the ones you don't understand will be more beneficial to you than just copy / paste.
Another problem is that most of us on Yahoo Answers don't want to take a multiple choice test for people. We are either still in school / college and deal with enough of those ourselves or are out of school and don't want to take more multiple choice tests. I, along with most others, are very willing to help you answer questions but I don't think anyone here wants to take your test for you. It's not going to help us, it's not going to help you, and it wastes time.

"by limiting investment in alternative energy companies?"
How are we "limiting" investment?
There are plenty of free market entrepreneurs who are working at more energy efficiency, improving/discovering alternatives, etc.
What we don't need is subsidization of ancient-technology alternatives like wind, ethanol and solar. These alternatives are on the shelf and subsidization will do nothing to advance technology.
I have spent my whole working career in the business of heating and cooling buildings with energy consumption being our biggest constraint.
I would be a billionaire if I could figure out how to cut a building's energy consumption better than any other competitor.
"On a strictly financial basis, is AGW denial a net benefit to shareholders of existing alternative energy companies?" If they are simply looking for subsidies--thankfully no.
If they develop a viable alternative, it won't matter what the policymakers do. They'll make money.

I have spent my whole working career in the business of heating and cooling buildings with energy consumption being our biggest constraint.
I would be a billionaire if I could figure out how to cut a building’s energy consumption better than any other competitor.
“On a strictly financial basis, is AGW denial a net benefit to shareholders of existing alternative energy companies?” If they are simply looking for subsidies–thankfully no.
If they develop a viable alternative, it won’t matter what the policymakers do. They’ll make money.

People in the Astronomy category will gladly help kids with their homework provided that the kid at least tries to answer the questions first. If you give the answers that you believe are the right ones, then I would be glad to help you as much as I can. However, I think that you might find more helpful answers in the Earth Sciences category.

Are deniers increasing the future price of energy by limiting investment in alternative energy companies?
Yes! British companies like Pelamis and Wavegen have been a success despite rather than because of the current investment climate. both are backed by venture capital from Triodos Bank, an ethical bank based in de Nederlands, and both are making a good profit now, although Pelamis had to go to Portugal for their first big contract. It winds me up, we invent stuff and other people get the benefit.
Do deniers invest in alternative energy at the same rate as AGW realists?
Nope, but luckily the people that really run things are not deniers.http://www.ft.com/cms/s/2/0b1fa95c-1d5e-…
On a strictly financial basis, is AGW denial a net benefit to shareholders of existing alternative energy companies?
No! they are loosing out, and many sussed CEO's are starting to realise it.http://www.investmentexecutive.com/clien…
And consider alternative strategies for established companies.
I heard on the radio tonight that Drax, the largest coal fired power station in Britain, is co-firing with biomass, but at a loss, because of the balance of the various grants. They have no incentive to switch to a higher proportion of biomass, which would be both more eco-friendly and give a better burn (the saving on abatement nowhere near covers the extra cost of the biofuels at the moment).
jim, I gave you a thumbs up for 'littlerobberbaron'. I just love it! I might start using it.
Seriously considering unblocking you for that.... or maybe not.

Assuming your reference to solar power was 10%-30% in efficiency, the guy from England who wrote the article needs to learn about solar power. (Lowest efficiency possible is 10% which is what solar calculators use and solar panels use 15%-17% efficiency solar cells.) I'm not dissing renewable energy, but I have to say Obama is sort of an idiot. He perfectly knows that nuclear power is WAY more practical than almost all renewable sources except for geothermal and biomass now English scientists have dug deep into fusion power research.

our next source of energy and fuel will be gas cooled nuclear reactors.
Also Known as Generation IV nuclear power plants.
They produce hydrogen fuel in large amounts from the energy lost during the nuclear reaction as it also produced electrical power.

It appears that the American voters were wise in the select of President elect Obama as the next POTUS. Green Energy production in this country needs to unfold, to present to our nation and world the great possibilities that lay ahead regarding recycle and renewable energy process.

a) Ei - Ef = W
 mv^2/2 - m(0)^2/2 = W
 69.0 * 4.1^2 / 2 = W
 W = 579.9J lost
b) Friction force = N*u = 69.0 * 9.8 * 0.70 = m*a = 69.0 * a
a = 6.86m/s^2
so with decceleration above we can do
v^2 = v0^2 + 2ax
0 = 4.1^2 + 2(-6.86)x
x = 1.23meters

The best major would be Environmental Engineering, which deals with the environment, natural resources, consumerism, etc. Your second bet is Chemical Engineering, which has to do with detailed analysis of harmful chemicals, how to get rid of them, etc.

To be honest? In the time it took you to write these questions down on the yahoo page, you probably could have answered half of them, and by now, all of them. It's really to your own detriment not doing it yourself because when the test comes, you wont know any of it at all! Astronomy and Geology can be very interesting if you approach then with an open mind! give it a shot, I think youll do fine
Good luck from Australia
